PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the tire uniformity. SOLUTION: A pneumatic tire 1 equipped with a toroidal carcass 6 is disclosed. The carcass 6 comprises at least one carcass ply 6A which is a combination of a main part 6a extending from a tread part 2 through a sidewall 3 to a bead core 5 of a bead part 4, and a folded rim part of the bead core 5. An auxiliary cord layer 9 is provided radially inside the bead core 5, with the carcass ply 6A housed between the auxiliary cord layer 9 and an inner surface 5i of the bead core 5. The auxiliary cord layer 9, with its width SW in the axial direction of the tire 0.7 to 1.0 times the bead core 5 width CW, comprises steel cords SC positioned with a 20 to 80 degrees inclination in the circumferential direction of tire.
