PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for a polymer having an alicyclic structure, suitable for optical materials, etc., wherein a volatile component contained in a reaction solution is removed for a short time, a molecular weight lowering of the polymer obtained as result is suppressed, and the residue of the volatile component is greatly diminished. SOLUTION: The production method for the polymer having the alicyclic structure, is composed of a pre-condensing process and a drying process. In this condensing process, a part of the volatile components contained in the reaction solution containing the polymer having the alicyclic structure, is removed by heating the above reaction solution, using a solvent-removing apparatus equipped with a heating cylinder with a screw, or the solvent-removing apparatus equipped with a plate-fin type heat-exchanger. In this drying process, the polymer is controlled to be above 99.5 wt.% in its concentration, by removing the residue of the volatile components contained in the above condensed solution, and is recovered.
