PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling mill capable of improving its rolling efficiency because of alleviating its vibration which occurs during rolling by increasing the horizontal rigidity of the rolling mill to work rolls and a backup roll. SOLUTION: A housing 1 for the rolling mill holds one pair of upper and lower work rolls 2, and a roll chock 3 which pivots the work rolls 2. At least on one side of the housing 1, a hydraulic cylinder 6 is placed, the tip of its piston 5 is provided with a liner 4 which is brought into contact with a roll chock 3. The piston 5 of the hydraulic cylinder 6 is brought into contact, at a retracted position, with a shaft 9' which is introduced into the hydraulic cylinder 6 by means of a screw 9 and is fixed there. This increases the horizontal rigidity of the rolling mill.
