DISPLAY DEVICE WITH ENHANCED LUMINESCENCE AND CONTRAST CHARACTERISTICS

PURPOSE: A display device is provided to enhance luminescence and contrast characteristics simultaneously and improve color sensitivity. CONSTITUTION: A display device comprises a panel having a black matrix, a luminescent layer inside the panel, and a coating film between the panel and the luminescent layer. The luminescent layer is formed by luminescent material or a color filter illuminating when an electron beam or a high voltage is applied. The coating film contains dysprosium(Dy) and neodymium(Nd). The dysprosium(Dy) and neodymium(Nd) for the coating film are rare earth metals. The weight ratio of the dysprosium(Dy) to the neodymium(Nd) is 1:4 - 4:1. The coating film is coated by vacuum deposition or sputtering the Dysprosium(Dy) or the neodymium(Nd) on the glass panel to be of 0.05 - 1 micrometer. The luminescent layer is formed by various methods depending on the structure of CRT, PDP or LCD.
