PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electric discharge lamp equipment and illumination equipment using this, with which a desired brightness distribution in a bulb axis direction according to a pitch of a coil of an external electrode is obtained, although it has a reflector. SOLUTION: The electric discharge lump equipment is constituted of a slender and long light transmittable airtight container 1a, an internal electrode 1b enclosed in the light transmittable airtight container 1a, an external electrode 1f that is constituted of a coil that is wound in variable pitch to a circumference face of the light transmittable airtight container 1a, and generates discharge between the corresponding internal electrode 1b, in the light transmittable airtight container 1a, an electric discharge lump 1 that is enclosed with a discharge medium containing a rare gas as a main component, a lighting circuit 2 lighting the electric discharge lump 1, and a non-conductive reflector 3 that is arranged along and near the bulb axis direction of the discharge lump 1. By making the reflector 3 non-conductive, almost uniform brightness distribution along with the bulb axis direction of the light transmittable airtight container 1a and the brightness distribution controlled as desired can be made. |
