PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can further save energy. SOLUTION: A communication power supply 22 supplies power to a modem 15 and an NCU 16, a read power supply 23 supplies power to a read section 17, and a recording power supply 24 supplies power to a recording section 18 respectively. A main control section 11 independently controls the communication power supply 22, the read power supply 23 and the recording power supply 24. Then the image processing unit allows a corresponding power supply to supply power only to each section used for each of functions, such as an image transmission function, an image reception function and a copy function and suppresses supply of power to unnecessary sections. Thus, the image processing unit can suppress the power consumption and save energy further.
