PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material originated from fullerene used as a photoelectric conversion element by establishing a simple method for making fullerene into a thin film without damaging an original property. SOLUTION: This material for the photoelectric conversion element is constituted of calixarene provided with a hydrophobic upper end and a lower end provided with ionic hydrophilic functional group, fullerene, and a conductive substrate provided with a surface having an electric charge opposite to the hydrophilic functional group of calixarene, and a complex formed by connecting calixarene and fullerene by the ratio of 2:1 is laminated on a substrate surface in a monomolecular film shape. Preparation is performed by immersing the substrate in the solution of the calixarene/fullerene complex.
