PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser device that does not require any saturable absorption region and oscillates in a state where all modes are synchronously in-phase regardless of oscillating conditions. SOLUTION: This laser is provided with a resonator 1 and an exciting source 10 which works as a gain region exciting means. The resonator 1 includes a gain region 2 in which an inverted distribution is obtained through light excitation or current injection, non-gain regions 3 in which the gain is not positive against laser-oscillated light, and two reflecting mirrors 4. The gain region 2 is arranged in the central part of the resonator 1 along the optical axis of the resonator 1 so that the optical path length of the region 2 may become about 1/2 of that of the resonator 1. The non-gain regions 3 are arranged on both sides of the gain region 2, respectively, and the reflecting mirrors 4 are arranged on the outsides of the regions 3, respectively.
