A travelling valve assembly for use in a sucker rod activated fluid pump includes: a flow through body member having at least one rounded groove formed in the lower e nd of a central passageway of the flow through body member; and a downwardly depending membe r adapted to strike a ball valve of the valve assembly after the ball valve rises off a valve seat member of the valve assembly.
