PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove impurities contained in a fuel gas by utilizing properties of substances abundantly contained in carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and a fossil fuel gas under high temperature of molten carbonate or molten salt, extremely stable in the environment, and in particular, extremely easy to react with a sulfur oxide such as sulfurous acid gas. SOLUTION: In a fuel cell power generation system for generating power in a fuel cell 4 by feeding the fuel gas to the fuel cell 4, this method is used to react impurity gases such as sulfurous acid gas SO2 or chlorine gas Cl with the molten salt, and thus to absorb and remove the impurity gases.
