摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium capable of realizing highly precise servo writing and high-density recording without any defects. SOLUTION: In the magnetic recording medium in which two or more magnetic layers formed are provided on a nonmagnetic flexible substrate, information are recorded in the uppermost magnetic layer and servo signals are recorded in the lower magnetic layer, the Hc(u) [kA/m] of the uppermost magnetic layer is <=265 times of Bs [T] of the recording head to be used for information recording, and the Hc(L) [kA/m] of the lower magnetic layer is >=159 times of Bs [T] of the recording head to be used for information recording. The Hc(u) of the uppermost magnetic layer ranges 158 to 316 kA/m. Preferably, the thickness of the uppermost magnetic layer is 1/10 to 1 time of the shortest recording wavelength of the information signals recorded in the uppermost magnetic layer, and the thickness of the lower magnetic layer ranges from 0.05 to 3 &mu;m.
