PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device and a user authentication system thereof for authenticating a user independently of a password. SOLUTION: The user selects the corresponding combination of a key input and output previously from an existing table or sets the combination optionally with user's affinity to register it as an authentication setting table. The combination is registered by selecting and setting an output 'i' in HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) to a key input 'yi', an output 'o' in HIRAGANA to a key input 'oo', an output 'KATAKANA (Japanese square syllabary)' to a key input 'Ctrl+I',..., e.g. Without regard to user authentication by the password at the time of turning on power source, the combination of the key input and output after then is monitored. When the key input is included in the registered authentication setting table and the number of times when the output is not included in the registered authentication setting table exceeds a prescribed number of times, it is judged that key input is performed by an illegal user and error processing is performed.
