PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program modification device capable of efficiently running a corrected program while suppressing the expansion of circuit scale to the minimum concerning the trouble spot of a program fixedly installed in a ROM built in a microcomputer. SOLUTION: This program modification device is provided with a correction address register 31, a comparator circuit 32 and a branch destination address register 33 for enabling running of the corrected program by comparing a value in a fetch address register 1 with a value in the correction address register 31 by the comparator circuit 32, sending the output of an NOP instruction generating circuit 4 to an instruction queue in the case of coincidence, simultaneously setting a value in the branch destination address register 33 to the fetch address register 1 and fetching the data of the address instructed by the branch destination address register 33 in the next instruction fetch.
