PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine that can select a proper resolution, depending on whether a user takes priority of the resolution or a communication time/communication charge over others. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine calculates an image data quantity by each resolution from original image data, calculates the communication time of each resolution on the basis of the calculated image data quantity, calculates a communication charge a to each resolution on the basis of the calculated communication time, displays the communication time (ΔΔminutes) and the communication charge (×××yens) corresponding to each resolution (○○○dpi). The user viewing this display designates one resolution and selects it.
