PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sureness in the read of a specified code located in a part of a reading visual field in a device having a two-dimensional reading visual field. SOLUTION: A code scanner comprises a reading mechanism consisting of an area sensor or lighting LED having a two-dimensional reading visual field F, and a marker LED located at both ends of the vertical middle part of the reading visual field F to emit a marker light M. The code scanner is constituted switchably to an entire reading mode for reading codes B and L in the whole reading visual field F of the area sensor and a partial area reading mode for reading the codes B and L located only in the horizontally long area of the vertical middle part of the reading visual field F. The marker light M is emitted only in the partial area reading mode. In the partial area reading mode, it is judged whether the code recording position to be read is precisely conformed to the irradiating position of the marker light M or not, and when it is not precisely conformed, decoding is not performed. |
