HAND-OFF METHOD IN ACCESS NETWORK BASED ON WIRELESS LAN

PURPOSE: A hand-off method in an access network based on a wireless LAN(Local Area Network) is provided to shorten a connection setting time between an AP(Access Point) and a user terminal and minimize data loss when a user moves to an other network or an inter-different AP of a same network. CONSTITUTION: An MAC level layer of an AP analyzes a reported power strength, and searches a hand-off object AP through an active scanning when the analyzed power strength is less than a set strength(S104). An MAC level layer of a notebook reports information to the searched hand-off object AP to an MN L3 application layer(S105). The MN L3 application layer transmits a message for requesting access to the MAC level layer(S106), and the MAC level layer requests access to an MAC level layer of a new AP(S107). The MAC level layer of the new AP receives the access request and notifies the access request to an AP L3 application layer(S108), and provides a response to the access request to the MAC level layer of the terminal for requesting the access(S109). The MAC level layer of the notebook notifies the response to the MN L3 application layer(S110). The AP L3 application layer of the new AP transmits a message for performing a hand-off to an AP L3 application layer of a current AP(S111). A fast hand-off is performed(S112).
