PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a safe battery using ferrate (VI) of high energy as a positive active material by suppressing generation of gaseous hydrogen. SOLUTION: This battery is made by using ferrate (VI) as the positive active material, an alkaline aqueous solution containing at least zinc compound as an electrolytic solution, and a zinc alloy as a negative active material. By adding at least one element selected from Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ti, V, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zr, Nb, Ag, Al, Ga, In, Sn and Bi, to the zinc alloy, generation of gaseous hydrogen in the battery is prevented. As the zinc alloy, Zn-In-Bi, Zn-In-Bi-Al, or Zn-In-Bi-Ca alloy is the most preferable. |
