HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the lamp life of a high pressure discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The high pressure discharge lamp comprises an arc tube part 1 in which luminous substance 6 is filled, a side tube part 2 which is extended from the arc tube part, and an electrode bar 3 of which one end is arranged in the arc tube part 1 and one part is installed in the side tube part 2. The electrode bar 3 is substantially constructed of tungsten, and a region 7 which contains at least one of copper oxide and copper exists in at least a part of the side tube part 2 of the portion (10) inside of which a part of the electrode bar 3 is positioned.
