PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a communication system for control capable of displaying/ operating the state of a device similarly to a display for control of a local control system by a terminal distant from the local control system without obstructing monitor/control by the local control system and providing a new display screen. SOLUTION: A public server 21 of the local control system 3 acquires states of the respective devices by communicating with the respective host computers 16 for control by protocols different from the one with a client device 7. On the other hand, the client device 7 receives HTML and XML files created based on screen data showing operations when a programmable display 14 acquires and displays the state of the device and applet to be operated by referring to the XML file from the public server 21 and displays the state of the device on a screen based on a result obtained by inquiring the public server 21.
