PURPOSE: A system and a method for transmitting video data to a cellular phone are provided to allow a transmitting side to easily send video data and to allow a cellular phone to display video data in an optimum display mode. CONSTITUTION: A method for transmitting an image captured by a web camera to a cellular phone(8) includes a cellular phone number receiving step, and a transmission step. In the phone number receiving step, a plurality of video data files for displaying the image captured by the web camera on the screen of the cellular phone, a letter message for transmitting the video data files to the cellular phone, and the cellular phone's number are received. In the transmission step, a specific video data file corresponding to the optimum display mode of the cellular phone is transmitted to a system of a corresponding mobile communication service company(7) together with the letter message and cellular phone number.
