PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for the output of the received sound of a superior mobile telephone, wherein the received sound of high sound quality other than a received sound provided at the mobile telephone can be generated, the comfortability of a user can be balanced, and the taste of the user can be satisfied. SOLUTION: The received-sound output system is constituted of the mobile telephone 1 and an on-vehicle device (a sound processor) 2. The on-vehicle device 2 is provided with a hands-free function part (a reception part) 4 comprising a CPU (a control part) 3, an amplifier 4, a loudspeaker 6, a microphone 7, a sound source 11 for the received sound, and a signal changeover part (a signal output part) 12. When a user waits for the receipt of a message, the part 12 is changed over to the output side of a received sound signal for the on-vehicle device. When the mobile telephone 1 receives the message, a received-sound signal peculiar to the on-vehicle device 2 is generated by the sound source 11 on the basis of a peculiar received-sound message command from the mobile telephone 1, and a voice is output from the loudspeaker 6 via the part 12 and the amplifier 5. After the voice of the received sound has been output, the part 12 is changed over to the output side of the voice signal of the mobile telephone 1.
