PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk drive which is improved in reliability by preventing a magnetic disk and a lamp from colliding against each other. SOLUTION: This drive is provided with a lamp loading mechanism which supports a magnetic head at a distance from a magnetic disk 16 through the suspension when a head actuator moves to a stop position. A lamp loading mechanism is equipped with the lamp provided on the outer peripheral side of the magnetic disk 16 and a tab which is provided atop of the suspension and moves onto the lamp. The lamp is provided movably between a forward- movement position where the lamp stops while at lest part of it overlaps with the magnetic disk and a backward-movement position where it leaves the magnetic disk and is moved from the backward-movement position to the forward- movement position by a lamp driving part 52 only; when the magnetic head is loaded to and unloaded from the magnetic disk.
