PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk recording and reproducing device which can store many disklike recording media in a disk storage part and make it easy to store a disklike recording medium in the storage part and take it out. SOLUTION: In the annular disk storage part 33 which is arranged horizontally and rotatably, respective optical disks 1 are held vertically in radial directions of the disk storage part 33. At the center part of the disk storage part 33, a recording and reproduction unit 35 is provided and one optical disk 1 held in the disk tray 11 is carried in a horizontal state to the recording and reproduction unit 35 and held horizontally in the recording and reproduction unit 35. The recording and reproduction unit 35 is rotated by 90 deg. to hold the horizontally-held optical disk 1 vertically and the optical disk 1 is carried to the disk storage part 33 by a disk carrying mechanism and held in the disk storage part 33.
