The invention relates to a binding composition in "ready-mixed" state forming a setting-type joint compound when mixed with an accelerator for the reaction of the calcium sulphate hemihydrate with water to form hardened gypsum. The binding composition comprises 20...99% a filler material consisting of calcium sulphate hemihydrate, another filler material consisting of calcium carbonate, 1...10% sepiolite, bentonite or Attapulgus clay, 0.1...10% a setting retarder, namely calciumless phosphate, keeping the binding composition in an unhardened state for at least 175 days, a binding agent, a thickening agent and water, the percentage being expressed by weight and related to the total amount of solid substances employed for obtaining the composition.
