<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC generator for vehicles which has a high power generation efficiency. SOLUTION: The AC generator for vehicles is provided with a rotor 2 which had permanent magnets 21, a stator 3 which has ultra-low-resistance armature coils 31, a rectifier unit 4, an on-off switch 5 for short-circuiting the armature coils 31 intermittently, and a voltage controller 6 for controlling the on-off timing of the on-off switch 5. When the generator is unloaded, the on-off switch 5 is opened, and a voltage lower than the terminal voltage of a battery 9 is generated. When the battery 9 is charged, or another load is connected, the on-off switch 5 is connected, the on-off switch 5 is on-off controlled, and a flyback voltage is generated. As a result, an output voltage not lower than the terminal voltage of the battery 9 is generated.</p> |
