The chuck body (1) has two or more radial jaw guides (3) for each tension jaw (2). The tension jaws each engage by a wedged hook (9) in an associated wedged groove (10) of a tension piston (6) guided axially in the chuck body and having a bore (8) for holding the workpieces. There are at least two guide strips in the front part of the jaw and at least one guide strip (5) running in the radially shortened rear part of the jaw. They have a trapezoidal cross-sectional profile.
