A carboxylated photosensitive resin which is obtained by reacting a monocarboxylic acid (d) containing an unsaturated group with a product (c) of the reaction of a phenolic novolak (a) with an alkylene oxide (b) and reacting the resultant reaction product (e) with a polybasic acid anhydride (f); and a photocurable/heat-curable composition which comprises (A) the carboxylated photosensitive resin, (C) a photopolymerization initiator, and (D) an epoxy resin and optionally further contains (B) a photosensitive (meth)acrylate compound. The composition preferably further contains (E) an organic solvent and/or (F) a curing catalyst. The composition is irradiated with ultraviolet and then developed with a dilute aqueous alkali solution to form an image. This image-bearing film is finally cured by heating, or by irradiation with actinic energy rays and subsequent heating, or by heating and subsequent irradiation with actinic energy rays. Thus, a cured film can be formed. The composition is useful in applications such as ultraviolet-curable printing inks, various resists and interlayer dielectric materials for use in producing printed circuit boards, etc.
|
