The flash photography system has a main flash device and at least one auxiliary flash device activated ahead of the main flash device by the flash command signal, for providing a pre-flash. The system incorporates selection of the main flash operating mode, with a central processing unit (13) forwarding the flash command signal to the auxiliary flash device in dependence on the selected operating mode.
