PURPOSE: A dual-mode digital video disk player is provided to enable playing, slide edition and jump searching in dual mode by respectively controlling playing of a plurality of digital video disk players included in a single system. CONSTITUTION: A dual-mode digital video disk player includes a key input unit(102) for generating a key control signal, a plurality of pick-ups(108,108') for detecting recording data from a rotating disk, and a plurality of data extractors(116,116') for filtering detected signals of the pick-ups. The digital video disk player further has a plurality of buffers(118,118') for storing the output data of the data extractors, a plurality of MPEG decoders(120,120') for reading and decoding the data stored in the buffers, and a data synthesizing unit(126) for synthesizing the output signals of the MPEG decoders. The digital video player also has a video encoder(127) for converting the synthesized video signal into R,G,B signals, a plurality of controllers(114,114') for controlling servos that drive the pick-ups and a motor rotating the disk, and a main controller(130) for controlling the operations of the buffers, MPEG decoders and video encoder and outputting a jump command and a stop command for normal speed, slide, and searching to the controller.
