The wrapping (7) is severed by at least one movable cutter and is removed by an element (6). As the bale (8) slides forward and or the cutter knife moves forward along the bale's periphery or along one or more sides of the bale, the blade cuts through the wrapping. The depth to which the cutter-blade cuts matches the thickness of the wrapping.
