The system incorporates one or more domestic appliances (1) coupled to a latent heat storage device (2), allowing the stored heat to be converted into useful heat energy for the appliance via a heat exchanger (5). The heat storage device is supplied with heat energy via a solar installation (7) and/or a geothermal installation (8), e.g. a heat pump.
