<p>A system and method for providing a packet-based electronic stethoscope to assist in remote medical assessment is disclosed. A detection device (102) detects bodily sounds and transmits the sounds to an interface unit (104). The interface unit (104) prepares the sounds to be transmitted as data packets (132), to a patient unit (53). The patient unit (53) stores patient related information and transfers the data packets (132) to a receive unit (112). The receive unit (112) then prepares the data packets (132) such that a caregiver may listen (114) to the detected bodily sounds from a remote location.</p> |
