The invention relates to nucleotidic sequences from corynebacteria which code for the transcription regulator chrA, a process for the fermentative preparation of L-amino acids using coryneform bacteira in which at least the chrA gene is present in attenuated form, and the use of polynucleotides which comprise the sequences according to the invention as hybridization probes.
