Disclosed herein is air-conditioning apparatus with low compression load, which is capable of diminishing the compression load of the compressure by lowering the temperature of refrigerant which flows toward the compressor. The air-conditioning apparatus with low compression load has an expansion device for adiabatic expansion of the refrigerant, an indoor unit with heat-exchanger, a compressor for adiabatic compression of the refrigerant and an outdoor unit with heat-exchanger. The refrigerant condensed in the outdoor unit (160) is passed through the evaporating circuit (110) for heat exchanging, then flowed into the expansion device (120). Some refrigerant flowing into the expansion device (120) is expanded in the auxiliary expansion device (130), then supplied into the compressor (150) after passed through the evaporating circuit (110) for heat exchanging.
