A method for partial oxidation of methane using an oxygen selective permeation ceramic membrane reactor, characterized in that in a portion of the reactor upstream in a stream of a gas containing methane, a methane partial oxidation catalyst based on Ni or a noble metal such as Ru which is low with respect to the deposition of carbon is arranged in a two-dimensional fashion in the vicinity of the surface of the ceramic membrane from which an oxygen gas oozes out in such an amount as not to cause deactivation of the catalyst by oxidation, in that in a portion of the reactor downstream in the stream of the gas containing methane, a methane partial oxidation catalyst which is low with respect to the deposition of carbon is arranged so as to contact with the ceramic membrane in a three-dimensional way, and in that steam is added to the gas containing methane fed to the reactor in a ratio of 0.25 to 0.5 relative to the amount of carbon present in the gas.
|
