The procedure for the connecting and/or coating of material webs entails connecting an end section of the web drawn instantaneously through the treatment unit to a starting section of a new web during the further movement of the running web. The start section of the new web is run onto the end section of the first moving web, and before connection of the webs a means of adhesion such as adhesive tape is provided on the leading edge of one web, and especially the following new web. An independent claim is included for a device for the connecting and/or coating of material webs which has a connecting unit (23) allocated to two feed roll (13,14).
