The assembly (10) to extract water from a wet web (12), of paper or cardboard, carries the web between two Fourdriniers (14, 16) in a path stretch (20) past a web forming station (22) where water is extracted by suction. The outer side (16.1) of the outer Fourdrinier (16), not in contact with the web, is under pressure from a fixed section (24) which does not move with the Fourdrinier.
