A process for producing a surface finish, and a product incorporating such a finish, are disclosed. The process deposits small elements (7) directly onto the surface using a screen printing type process. The material deposited (11) is a resilient material, for example silicon rubber, which sets to provide solid, discrete elements without the need for a separate adhesion step. The surface is functional as a frictional grip or anti-abrasion surface, or may be decorative.
