A waste water and sludge treatment assembly (1) has a gas trap (4) floating in a basin (2). The gas trap (4) is rigid and has outer sides forming the trap. The trap has a guide (5) to secure a movable component e.g. waste water feed pipe. The gas trap discharges to a reservoir fabricated from a plastic membrane bag supported by e.g. a bamboo frame.
