LIGHT-EMITTING DIODE COMPRISING A LUMINOUS ELEMENT

A light-emitting diode comprises a luminous element that is roughened at least in one area. The roughened element area leads to an enlargement of the angle of emission on a light-emitting diode. The inventive light-emitting diode is thus suited, above all, for light-emitting diode configurations, in which a number of light-emitting diodes are adjacently arranged and a uniform emission of light should be effected. The roughened area is preferably produced by sand blasting or by spraying on a substance that reacts with the luminous element. The inventive light-emitting diode can be advantageously used inside a light-emitting diode configuration for a signaling system, for example, a traffic light.
