<p>PURPOSE: A material for protecting articles having a non woven fabric bonded to a shrinkable film by an adhesive is provided to prevent damage caused by rubbing of the bonded portion of the non-woven fabric across the surface, and to facilitate manufacture and strengthens and add tear resistance to the material by virtue of the repeating nature of the pattern of adhesive . CONSTITUTION: The shrink wrap material(10) for protecting an object comprises a heat shrinkable film layer(12) having a pre-determined shrink response when heat is applied thereto; an adhesive applied to the film in a predetermined pattern(16) defining first areas of the film bearing the adhesive and second areas being void of the adhesive; and a non-woven fabric layer(14) for engaging the object when the material is applied to the object. The non-woven layer being intermittently bonded to the film by the adhesive, the non-woven fabric including unbonded portions that overlie the second areas of the film, thereby protecting the surface from the bonded portions.</p> |
