PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic level meter capable of measuring the level of a particulate powder such as flour, etc., stored in a silo, etc., without contact. SOLUTION: The level meter for measuring the level of a stored powder 10 using acoustic signals comprises a directional speaker 3 for radiating acoustic pulses on the surface of the powder 10, a microphone 4 for detecting reflected waves of the pulses from the surface of the powder 10, a time measuring unit 7 for measuring the time taken for detecting the reflected wave by the microphone 4 after the speaker 3 radiates the acoustic pulses, and an arithmetic unit 8 for calculating the level of the power based on the time measured by the measuring unit 7. The wavelength of the acoustic pulse is set to a wavelength difficult to scatter by the flying powder 10. |
