PURPOSE: To correct error which occurs owing to error when reproduction power is deviated from an optimum reproduction power decided by test reading through the use of an error correcting circuit. CONSTITUTION: An error rate to be used for deciding the optimum reproduction power in test reading is made to be a value being equal to or below the error rate corresponding to the longest burst error which is corrected by the error correcting circuit.
