PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining a satisfactory display state in which there is no afterimage (persistent image) with respect to video signals of all sorts of types. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device 0102 displaying input video information 0101 from a video signal generating device on a liquid crystal panel 0112, the display device is provided with a comparator circuit 0203 judging the presence or absence of difference by comparing past input video information with present video information, a first driving circuit 0210 outputting an alternating current signal having a first cycle in order to prevent the application of DC voltage to the liquid crystal panel, a second driving circuit 0213 which is different from the first driving circuit and which outputs a second alternating current signal and a selecting circuit 0215 which selects either the alternating current signal having the first cycle or the second alternating current signal having the second cycle which are to be outputted respectively from the first driving circuit and the second driving circuit according to the compared result of the comparator circuit and outputs the selected signal.
