PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that it takes too much time before the temperature reaches a temperature where fixing is possible when starting a power source if a thick heat roll is utilized to prevent fixing failure resulting from lowering of the roll temperature during continuous copying. SOLUTION: In the device, the heat roll is constituted of a metallic hollow roll whose plate thickness is <=1 mm in order to reach the temperature where fixing is possible within a short period of time by making the heat capacity small. Control temperature Tc is corrected by allowing a control part to add a specified amount of correction at the time of passage of paper D2 on the condition that it is when paper is passed and the control temperature Tc when paper is passed is made higher than that when paper is not passed.
