PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the shutter controller of a camera with which high shutter speed is realized, while adopting a direct plunger driving system which is made simple and inexpensive. SOLUTION: This shutter controller of the camera is provided with a plunger 11, having a lever 12 pressed at an initial position by a return spring 13 and a coil 11a to generate electromagnetic force by which the lever 12 is driven by energizing, shutter blades 15 and 16 connected to and driven by the lever 12, a CPU for deciding on the energizing time for the coil 11a based on calculated exposure and an interface IC to control the energizing of the coil 11a according to decided energizing time. Either a first energizing time deciding system having the minimum value T1 of the energizing time or a second energizing time deciding system having the maximum value T2 of the energizing time that is smaller than the minimum value T1 is selected by the CPU, according to as to whether exposure is less than a specified value.
