PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable lifting instrument which is excellent in functionality because it has a large top tread and allows its height to be changeable to a desired value, excellent in versatility because it can change its leg- opening angle and its leg setting locations, high in stability when erected, excellent in safety, and stably supports the position of the worker. SOLUTION: The foldable lifting instrument is formed of a pair of right and left front legs, a pair of rear legs, leg pivotal-connecting portions which each rotatably or detachably connect an upper portion of the rear leg to an upper portion of the front leg, the top tread which has its both frontal sides rotatably connected to predetermined portions of the front leg upper portions, respectively, at least one or more treads which each have their frontal sides connected to the front legs, a top tread support portion which is horizontally arranged on the upper portions of the rear legs, and a top tread engaging portion which is arranged on a lower surface of the top tread to engage with the top tread support portion, determines the leg-opening angle between the front legs and the rear legs, and horizontally holds the top tread.
