PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide 1-chloro-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-2-methoxyethane of an ether compound containing fluorine, and further to provide a method for economically producing the compound in high yield by using an easily available raw material. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 1-chloro-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-2- methoxyethane is characterized in that 1,2-dichloro-1,1,2-trifluoro-2- methoxyethane is reacted with anhydrous hydrofluoric acid and/or a metal fluoride.
