PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient rotation and power of an engine at starting time, low/medium speed time, and high speed time, improve charging efficiency and combustion efficiency and reduce unburned gas in exhaust gas. SOLUTION: In this exhaust method and device for internal combustion engine, a front exhaust pipe communicating with an exhaust port of an internal combustion engine, an expansion chamber having a cylinder part connected therewith and an end plate, a piston inserted into the cylinder part and having an exhaust hole penetrating along an axial direction, a hollow piston rod communicating with the exhaust hole, and a rear exhaust pipe connected to the cylinder part end plate are utilized. The piston is advanced and retreated in accordance with driving state of a car. As this advancing and retreating means, a rack is provided along an axial direction of the piston rod. An operating shaft of which end is fixed on a pinion engaging with the rack is rotatably supported, and an operating plate is provided on another end of the operating shaft. The operating plate is rotated by an operating wire connected to an accelerator lever or by a motor.
