PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process of zeolite X or LSX(low silica X) each of which is agglomerated with a binder and exhibits such a high degree of lithium exchange that about 50-99% of ion-exchange feasible sites of the zeolite can be occupied by lithium ions, in a high lithium yield. SOLUTION: This production process involves performing lithium exchange by distributing zeolite X or LSX to at least two fixed bed type vessels (columns) arranged in series in a freely changeable order, and allowing a lithium compound solution 1 to continuously and successively flow through the vessels arranged in series while bringing the solution 1 into contact with the zeolite, wherein the order in which the vessels are arranged in series is periodically changed at prescribed intervals, when the degree of lithium exchange of the zeolite in a first vessel reaches a desired value, the first vessel is disconnected from the series of vessels (vessel line) and the zeolite contained in the disconnected vessel is washed and withdrawn (4) and then replaced by such a zeolite to be newly substituted with lithium by ion exchange, and first, a stream 5 corresponding to a degree of percolation e is withdrawn from the outlet of a head column of the vessel line, and then, a stream 3 corresponding to a degree of percolation E0 is withdrawn from the outlet of the vessel line.
